DC Kulgam chairs meeting to strengthen Waste Collection & Segregation under SBM 2.0

KULGAM, APRIL 04: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam today convened a meeting with Community Mobilizers and Self-Help Group (SHG) members engaged under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0 in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to review and strengthen the waste collection, segregation and processing mechanism across the district.
During the meeting, the DC highlighted the crucial role of SHGs in ensuring effective waste management and stressed the need for adopting scientific waste management practices to achieve improved sanitation and cleanliness.
SHG members were instructed to take responsibility for waste collection, segregation and processing at their respective levels and to ensure proper collection of user charges from beneficiaries to sustain these services.
Community Mobilizers were also directed to intensify public awareness regarding segregation of waste at source and proper disposal methods to ensure greater community participation in maintaining cleanliness.
Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council (MC) Kulgam, along with Executive Officers of various Urban Local Bodies, were present in the meeting.
