Kulgam, Apr 11: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary today said that drug abuse is a serious issue affecting society and reiterated that strict measures are being taken to curb the menace.

Addressing a gathering during the launch of a 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the SSP urged youth to stay away from drugs and contribute towards a healthy society.

“We are working hard to dismantle the drug network. Property of those involved in drug trafficking will also be attached as per law,” he said.

He said that in the past one month, police have busted four backward linkages, including in Jammu, while many more are being identified as part of sustained action against drug networks.

He urged people to share information about drug peddlers, stating that community participation is crucial in eliminating the menace.

He also highlighted the need for rehabilitation and support for victims, saying a comprehensive approach is essential to effectively combat drug abuse.

Various awareness activities were organised on the occasion to promote a drug-free society in Kulgam.
