National Tug of War Championship Concludes at GQ Public School, kulgam

Kulgam, June 28: The six-day National Tug of War Championship, which commenced on June 23, concluded on June 28 at GQ Public School, Qaimoh,Kulgam after witnessing enthusiastic participation from teams representing various states and Union Territories across the country.
The championship featured competitions in both the boys' and girls' categories and attracted athletes, coaches, officials and sports enthusiasts from across the country. During the six-day event, several political leaders, senior civil and police officers, educationists and sports officials visited the venue to encourage the participants and appreciate the organisers. Among the prominent visitors were MLA Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami, MLA Dooru Ghulam Ahmad Mir, MLA Devsar Feroz Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shahzad Alam (IAS), senior police officers, education department officials and other dignitaries, all of whom lauded the successful organisation of the national-level championship.
Speaking to the media during the concluding ceremony, Gowhar Ahmad Dar, Chairman of GQ Public School, expressed gratitude to the Tug of War Federation of India, the Jammu and Kashmir Tug of War Association, the district administration, security agencies, officials, volunteers and all participating teams for making the championship a grand success.
He said hosting a national-level championship in Kulgam was a matter of immense pride and would inspire local youth to actively participate in sports. He expressed hope that more such national sporting events would be organised in the district in the future, adding that sports play a vital role in promoting discipline, teamwork, unity and a healthy lifestyle among young people.
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners and outstanding performers were felicitated in the presence of guests, officials, coaches and spectators. Participants from across the country appreciated the warm hospitality and excellent arrangements made by the organisers, making the championship a memorable sporting event.
