KULGAM, APRIL 11: As part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls 2026, a revision camp was organized today at Town Hall Devsar to facilitate enrolment of eligible voters and updation of electoral records.

The programme was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, who highlighted the significance of Panchayat electoral rolls, stating that these rolls are even more crucial than Assembly electoral rolls as they directly strengthen grassroots democracy.

The initiative aimed to ensure maximum participation of eligible citizens in the electoral process by providing on-the-spot assistance for enrolment and correction of records. During the camp, several new voters were enrolled, while many others submitted forms for inclusion, deletion, correction, and transposition in the Panchayat electoral rolls.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC emphasized the need for maintaining accurate and updated electoral rolls to ensure free, fair, and transparent Panchayat elections. He urged all eligible citizens, especially those who have attained the age of 18 years as on 01-04-2026, to verify their details and ensure their names are included within the stipulated timeframe.

Among others present on the occasion were Sub-Divisional Magistrate Noorabad, ACD Kulgam, Tehsildar Devsar, Master Trainers, Panchayat Electoral Booth Officers (PEBOs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Aanganwadi Workers (AWWs), and a large number of local residents from Devsar, reflecting strong public participation in the democratic process.
